Post Original wheel size

Can anyone tell me what the original wheel and tire size was for the 1983 CJ7's? I have a bet with a friend who states that it was 31's and I say different.

Cool

There were a few options, but I believe all were metric and under 30".

'82 Scrambler - NV4500/4.5" lift/33" Toyo MTs/4.0/twin stick, and my windshield washers work! Full 1/2 cab Cage

2004 Grand Limited 4.7 HO - OH Boy!

2010 Grand Laredo 5.7 Hemi - SICK - work vehicle -gone - replaced by an 08 Tahoe - nice ride.

I would almost bet my life that they came stock with 28" tires. Not 100% sure, but very close.

85 CJ-7. 79 vette 350 conversion. 4.56 gears. Lockers. 4" Explorer Pro Comp suspension, 3" body lift. 38" Super Swamper TSL's. Looking to go SOA and take off the body lift.

According to an AMC sales catalog, the sizes for CJ-7 tires are:
P215/75R15 Goodyear Wranglers
P235/75R15 Goodyear Wrangers with white letters, both on a 15 by 7 inch rim.
The 235's are much more common and stand in at about 28.3/4 tall.
I personally run 255/70R15 and 265/70R 15 on my Jeeps for a wider tire / same heigth, without affecting the gearing.
