Original Location of Cigarette Lighter on Models with Factory A/C

Does anyone know the Original Location of the Cigarette Lighter on Models that came with Factory A/C, Tach, and Clock?

On my '83 Limited I found the Red and Black wires together under the dash that should go to a cigarette lighter but no sign there ever was one and I need to add a 12v outlet. Our other '83 which is a Laredo has a cigarette lighter under the dash just slightly off-center to toward the right under the speedo, but on the Limited the A/C unit is blocking this entire area.

On a related subject....

The original owner of my Limited had pictures of it all the way back through it's life including their family standing beside it the day they brought it home with the window sticker visible in the window and the dad holding up the keys. Something I noticed is that all of the early pictures of it for about the first 10 or so years of it's life including those very first pictures was that it used to have what appear to be a set of offroad or auxiliary lights on the front bumper. There are holes in the bumper from where they used to be mounted. I found a three-wire connector under the dash that I am guessing may have went to a switch at one point, but no switch and no sign of where it used to be located, I found a picture online of where one mounted but on mine again like the cigarette lighter the factory A/C is covering that area. I would like to find a factory switch and put it back where it belongs, and then also find a set of the lights or some that are similar.

I have another pic where it's located here, but I can't tell you whether it's original or not.

Here's a quick dash pic of my own 86 Laredo. Im the second owner and got it at 42K miles.

When they came with AC, the lighter was mounted under the drivers "wing" of the AC unit.

Also, with AC option, the ash try was relocated from under the dash by the lighter, to on the dash facing above the oil and volt gauges. (as seen in the above pics and my left over screws). I didn't like mine and removed it.

Awesome, Thanks! I just went and looked there and sure enough there are two small holes there in about that spot under my A/C unit just before the A/C control knobs.

Hey Fred, Whats the deal with the taller than normal T Case shifter. I have one of those and was wondering if it was an AUTOMATIC thing or a certain year thing?

Could it have anything to do with the Jeep pictured being a column shift automatic? Looks like it would be more in the way and annoying being taller like that, at least for people who also use their Jeeps for touring and drive them daily sometimes and only occasionally use their 4x4. If it's not factory could someone have modified the shifter from the transmission to mount onto the transfer case or welded the top section of a tranny shifter onto the base of a xfer case shifter?

I don't know. If that's modified, they did a great job.

No, it's stock, I have a tall one and I also looked back through ALOT of CJ pics and saw one or two more with manuals as well. ( t176)
So it could be a year thing of around 1980 or81

I thought they were all that height.

Here's my '81's original shifter. The knob is at the same height as the radio.

Must be a year thing.

I've only seen the longer Dana 300 shifters on 80-81 models. Later ones were short.

Non A/C, lighter is top right corner of the dash cover.
The ash tray is under the lower lip of the dash panel just to the right of the right side radio knob.

Huh? Lighter and ashtray on both my non-AC equipped Jeeps is pretty much right under the speedo on the lower lip of the dash.

Scrambler was bought new, tan CJ7 was bought with 29K miles on it and ashtray and lighter are both in the exact same spot they are on the Scrambler.
