Yeah, the switch was probably designed to be mounted vertically.

I purchased it with the under dash bracket.

Guess I will keep looking for the right switch, to put it in will be a snap (notice the play on words, yep I know weak).

While looking for information on under dash lights in the FSM I came across these two pages.

If you look at the illustration of the fog light switch it appears to show a "dash light for back lighting the switch and a pilot light in the switch????

Kinda throws out all that test we did.

Certainly couldn't miss a big bulb socket like that in the back.

I was looking at my fog light switch in my car, not jeep, and it has two LEDs in it, one for illumination and one to tell me the the lights are on.

The switch I tested with is not set up like this, It is an illustration so may have never been that way

However I have found FSM Illustration to be quite accurate.
However sometimes they don't bother to update everything. I bet it looked like that for some years or different model Jeeps not necessarily CJ's.

Are you going to install the REAR fog lamps also?

The additional switch was for the two windshield mounted off road lights the the Jeep Jamboree could be outfitted for, along with the optional fog lights that most other Jeeps could get. So, there was actually three (3) light switches all together on the Jamboree that could be optioned.
1) Standard Headlight switch
2) Factory Fog light switch (under dash)
3) Off Road lights switch (installed just below and to the right of the headlight switch)
If you take a close look at that Jambo dash pic, you will see two fog light switches in parallel (one next to each other). So one switch controls the bumper fogs and one switch controls the light bar fogs. That button/switch next the the headlight switch, still trying to figure out what that was. I have never seen it on any production Jambo, even ones with dealer installed light bars.

I missed the link in your first post, very interesting. Not sure I would ever find a switch over here that was for Jeeps over there.

He did find switches that looked close to the originals but without the fog light symbol on them
