Vote on Driving light switch location

First off you probably have heard me talk about this being a survivor Jeep and not wanting to stray away from that. Keep that in mind when you vote.

I have installed a set of KC driving lights on this Jeep (period correct). They are currently hooked up (through a relay) so that when the high beams are on the driving lights come on.

I would like to be able to override that so that the high beams can be turned on without the driving lights coming on (basically if the covers are on the lights I would still like to be able to use the high beams)

I have two options I am considering.

One is to use an original Jeep Fog Light switch to control the driving lights. It looks kind of add onish and hangs below the dash (I'm a tall guy and need all the leg room I can get.)

Two is to use (what I am told) is the original location of the optional winch switch. The draw back is drilling a hole in the dash.

Which, or what other, location is easier to find in the dark by feel (while keeping eyes on the road)? Does it really have to be on the dash?

I believe so. I don't have one, but see them for sale from time to time.

Looking at this I would say there is a light.

I see them for $50-75 most of the time.

I would say if you have no plans for a winch, go there.

If it had been available when I did the install of the KC lights I might have.

They are not true driving lights though and I like the KC lights better anyway.

I thought about a hidden location for awhile, but want to be able to see an indicator that the lights are on (they could be on with the covers on the lights and that would not be good)

How about a wireless connection and program it to your wristwatch?
Personally, I'd put it under the dash but on the other side, ahead of the shifter. Then it's visible at a glance and it's away from your knees.

Didn't you set up a relay for them some posts back in your thread? If so, put a light on the dash and the switch somewhere else.

With your skills and backup team (put me on the list for one of your center cap jigs when you start selling them ) you could probably put a little light in the speedo and the switch somewhere else.

Although the speedo may not be the best place (I rarely look at or in the direction of mine, as in turn signal can be on for miles )

Here's an idea, put a light where the upshift light was on the 4 cyl CJ's of the time.

The light really doesn't need to be anywhere near the switch. The bright light indicator isn't anywhere near the switch. The switch just needs to be easy to find without looking or reaching IMHO.

Yes, all the lights are on relays.

Good thoughts, I will probably do one of the switches though, I 'm leaning towards the winch switch idea, but have the original fog light switch coming to see what it looks like.
