Oil temp gauge?

Hi, I'm new to the Jeep world. Bought an '83 CJ7, 258, 5-speed.
One thing I've had in past vehicles is an oil temp gauge. Do any of you run that in your CJs? If so, where have you installed the sensor/sender, and what are normal operating ranges?
Or is oil temp something that doesn't need monitoring on a 258? I live in the northern US, where we can range from -30F in the winter to +105F in the summer.
Thanks for any advice.

Only saw oil temp in the OTR semi's I use to drive.
For everyday use(non-towing),don't see a need for one.
Have'n you along, is like loose'n 2 good men
