Little stumped

I'm finishing my 258-304 swap and never saw what the throttle cable setup looked like. I need a bracket or something idk... Going outside to finish the new slave cylinder for the clutch now (T4). Anyway I have the cable for the 304 but nothing to hook it to. Does anyone have a pic and/or link to where I could find this very important part? Lol
P.S. I have the motorcraft 2100 carb if that help any
Thanks!!!!!

Hey guys....I'm almost ready to drop my 360 in place of the 258 but was looking at the throttle linkage and think I may have a problem. I rebuilt the engine and went with a non egr edelbrock performer intake and 1405 carb. It doesn't look like the stock throttle cable set up is going to work. The motor is on the stand so I haven't tried yet but just seems I will need an adapter of some sort. Anyone done this carb swap and know of any issues or am I making this into a bigger deal than it is?

Too bad i wasn't payin attention to this site last summer! I dropped a 360 into a 73 cj5 that originally had a 258. I remember needing parts off of most of my "parts" jeeps to accomplish. needed block cj mounts from 304(motor came outta a chief). Also needed a reman flywheel to go from auto tranny to manual. Remember having to use a chevy input shaft(10 spline) to line up the clutch( can't find a AMC dummy spline!!!!). had 3 diff length cj throttle cables to choose from- used the one that fit the best. I also remeber having to make a heck of an adjustment to get the clutch to release. Had a set of fenderwell headers and turbo tubes off a 304 cj that work well except have issues being to close to rear tire. homebrewed my own wiring harness using pieces off the chief's harness. other rhen that it went pretty smooth! This jeep has amazing power and is loads of fun. i would recommend it to anyone!

hey fuzz- haven't i seen your jeep before? JP mag or somethin?

1. I had a set of fenderwell headers delivered today and found out you need to cut some of your inner fenders to make them fit. Not to happy about that , I think I'm going to go with the hedman street headers instead of the fenderwells. Have an auto tranny , any pros or cons?

2. < I went with performer intake and carb > Looked at the throttle cable set up today and it seems I will need to run a new cable from the pedal to the carb with the correct carb end unless there's an adapter for the edelbrock linkage to acept the stock cable end that snaps over the little ball on the linkage.

3. Does anyone know the fitting size for the fuel pump. I cannot find anything and the parts store has no clue. I want to run a braided line from the mech fuel pump up to a filter. Thanks for all the help guys. Hopefully I can get it done this weekend.

1 all you cut is the flat spot on the bottom of the inner fender and move your brace up some

2 you can buy the ball for the carb at any speed shop - look at your old carb it may be bolted on some were

3 you want # 6 AN fittings for the fuel line in braded - braded like is not cheap - pump is most likly 1/4 pipe threads

Thanks Fuzz!
The headers are hedman. Just not sure if I wanna go fenderwell or full length yet. I'd rather not do any cutting unless the pros are for the fenderwells. I ordered the full length last night from sumit just in case so they'll be here tomorrow. My main reason for not wanting to go with the fenderwell type is I'd like my exhaust to dump out the back and not right below me. I have the 360 to an auto tranny 999 for now until I decide to rebuild the 727 or go to a built 400 and that all mates to the 300 tc. I'm going to compare the best I can before I choose one but if you guys from experience know of any pros or cons to either set up please let me know in the next couple days. Thanks again for spending the time to share all your experience!!!

I am in the market for a new Edelbrock Performer intake but it lists 2 models. One model is the EGR and the other is the Non-EGR. I was wanting to know whick one to get? How can I tell if I have exhaust gas return or not? Or do I need it? I have went through all 13 pages and searched but came up with nothing. I have not installed the 360 yet (still getting all the parts together) Thanks!

I'm in Florida and don't have to pass inspections so I went non EGR but from what I understand EGR is needed for states that have inspections. The easiest way to tell if you have egr is you will see a big round saucer looking thing behind the carb on the intake. I can post a pic of the performer intake and 1405 carb installed if you like.
