Alright so here is a list of what I have and what its from. And everything came off of a running vehicle.

Head- 4.0 HO head 92 cherokee

Intake- same

Exhaust Manifold- same

ECU- 93 cherokee (bare bones, no power anything)

AX15 tranny and bell housing, 94 wrangler with CPS

Hesco Wiring Harness

I think I am going to go out and buy a new CPS this weekend and try that. What about the TPS. Could it make it not start? Also I still need to finish some evap lines and cap some other ones off.

I think the ZJ harness is different. My '93 Factory Service Manual covers YJ and XJ. I don't have any ZJ manuals. I have read about ZJ theft control issues, however I do have an XJ computer with theft control that won't work in my CJ with the YJ harness grafted in. Best bet would be to buy a factory service manual for the '94 ZJ.

I got the wiring its the cps now . Has anyone drilled the hole that can make a template? And what do you do to keep it in the hole since there is no bracket on my CJ trans? How can I tell what tranny is in my cj?
donor-94 ZJ with 42RE trans

The 42RE is for sale- 85K on trans

I am also looking at doing a 4.0 Swap. For option 3 what Model and year Jeeps should I be looking for and is there anything I need to avoid. I have a 1985 CJ7 with the T5 Transmission. You mentioned XJ any particular years or will any of them with a 4.0 work? I also made the mistake of skipping around while I read this thread so sorry for the ignorant out of order questions. I am assuming finding a complete donor vehicle will be easiest. When swapping motors will it be necessary to replace the tranny? I am trying to piece together a list of everything I need to look for from the Junkyard/donor vehicle.

Thanks for the pics! I've got this planned (got the donor block and FI ready) and was stuck on how to get the cps mounted.

Hey, a lot of really helpful info here, I was wondering if someone could help me with a question, I have a 1989 4.0 motor to replace my tired 258 w/5 speed trans behind it. With the engine I picked up the whore harness, ecu, cps and read all up on the cps mod to make it work with the bell housing. My question is, since I have the YJ flywheel and the clutch for it, do I just use my factory CJ throwout bearing and everything works and bolts together? Because the YJ throwout was hydro and obviously my 85 CJ7 is mechanical. Thanks in advance!

Hey, is there any emmissions equipment (ie. egr, air pump) that need to be installed with the 4.0l head/harness/intake for a 4.0l head swap?

Hey, I need help with wiring. I traced out the OBD2 port and got it all hooked up after buying one from the junkyard off the same model year XJ as my engine but there was an extra yellow wire with a black tracer that I don't know where it goes. I can see that it is in the OBD2 plug not the gauge plug.
Secondly on the wiring, I heard I need to rearrange some pins in the bulkhead connector to supply power to my PCM (computer thing). Is this true? Can I just clip them and put them on a switch?
