Little update. After I got it running I ordered the 3 wire to 2 wire plug so I can plug up the VSS. Most say it wont run right without it hooked up.So I figured I may as well start the body work and paint. I Dupli-Colored the inside of the tub and am working on the body now.

Here is the completed project.Have drove it about ten miles and all seems good.Mounted the computer to the firewall.Ended up having to lower skid plate so there was enough room for the Dana 300.Still only about 1" clearance from floor to the shifter pin. Here is is running.

Cool about driving it.
Sorry about the hood prop rod bracket. It is on the list of stuff Skerr asked if I had. AFAIK I only have the one extra.

Does clocking the tcase up flat make the shift lever angle to the left?

Do you have a pic of the trans/tcase down through the cab?

If you clock it up flat I think you will have to modify the tub for clearance.I clocked mine one spot down from flat and still have to lower my skid plate an inch and the shifter rod and nut that holds the shifter on still only has about 1" clearance.Had to heat my shifter rod and bend it over cause it was pointing toward the drivers side to much.If you clock it flat it will really point way to the left.

Glad to see you're still at it! Between work and family i havent touched my jeep in a while.... I still need to mountr transfer case shift lever. I had plenty of clearance with between T case and floor, but i will need to severely bend the shift lever towards the passenger side. As i mentioned before, my T case is laying flat. When I installed the T case, i didnt use the studs or the seal Noval sent. All the studs were very poorly cut and even with a die i couldnt fix the threads, and the seal they sent, i assume was between the transmission and T case but the OD was was too big. I bench pressed the T case with the adapter ring mounted to the T case and it only went in laying flat. After that it wouldnt go up or down any, so i just used some 2 inch grade 8 bolts.... Novak seems to be a good company but when I called them, they had no clue that the shift lever had to be bent, or the seal was wrong, or that the T case only worked in 1 spot. I am wondering if there are differences in AX15 housings between the various years??

Hey fellas,

I've almost finished the rebuild of my D300 and did a trial fit up to the AX15. I had the same issue as Ymurf and the second hole was as close to the stock angle before the shifter hits the tranny.

I have a problem though, there are two studs in the input shaft flange on the output shaft side. Do these just thread in? How did you get them out? I can't bolt the tranny on with these studs in.

The studs just thread out. Replace wtih longer studs for the adpater or use 2 inch 3/8" bolts like i did.

Any updates to this thread? Did you get the swap completed? Can you post any pictures of your shifters from a few angles? What boots did you go with? Did you use the stock AX15 shifter stick? I'm about 1/2 way through this swap and I'm trying to figure out how the shifters and boots will fit. I'm replacing my 176 with the AX15 and using the Novak clocking ring and installing the Currie Twin Stick at the same time. Thanks in advance for your help!
