OEM Roll Bar

Does anyone know of a good place to find either an original roll cage, or a original style roll cage?

I am looking for one for my 81 CJ 7. I am not sure, would a CJ 5 bar fit?

I am in Illinois (south side of Chicago), where are you in Michigan?

I don't think they are the same. Most cj7 roll bars go down to the floor. CJ5 roll bars attach to the fenderwell. I am in Howell, between Lansing and Detroit.

Any bar will work right from mid-79 and up. Their are only A style and B style, what vehicle it goes in doesn't matter.

If I knew what part of the universe Tinley Park was in...Perhaps I could help you....Shipping on this item would be more expensive than getting one bent up.

Edit...I see you posted Illinois...It wasn't in your profile.

The roll bar that is in there now is custom. I would like to go the original route. It is mounted on top of the wheel well in the back. Can someone post a pick of where an original bar mounts?

this style?

the stock rollbar out of any '83-'86 CJ and '87-'91 Jeep YJ is what you are looking for.

see them alll the time on CL, just bought one for $35 a few months ago (with spreader bars and pads)

lots of ppl get rid of this style to go to a '92-up 'family style' cage.

Those roll bars are so dangerous I'd rather have one from a early YJ the family style roll bar I think is what they are called, they are basically a old CJ roll bar but with 6 points. If you get in a high speed rollover with one they are prone to rip off the body or the windshield would break and the occupant's heads would smash onto the pavement. Here's a video that might make you reconsider.

This is what ultimately would contribute to the CJs demise and because of it I hate 60 Minutes for the way they unfairly bashed the Jeep, but these videos are real and those old roll bars are not safe at all.

If you know where sycamore/dekalb (in IL by NIU) is there is a garage where a couple of guys buy a lot of cjs, fix them up, and sell them. They have tons of parts and the last time i was there i saw at least 4 80's and up roll bars that im sure they'd sell you.
