oak island 4 wheelin...

All, I'm in oak island in a couple of weeks and taking the cj this time. Looking at some 4 wheelin hot spots and found Fort Fisher

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mswLr_kMJ_o

Definitely doing this one day. Any other places/ideas out there within reasonable distance from oak island??? at 10 MPG not going to trek too far

taking 2 cars btw - one for fun and one for hauling stuff!!!

Umm, that video is about remote control toys. Are you talking about real Jeeps or RC?

ok... I feel REALLY STUPID right now... called wishful thinking I guess. Yes this is a RC video. Was so excited about a possible spot near where I'm going to be I thought this looked right but on second viewing and paying closer attention....

that said you can drive on the beach there and seems so good places to go. Maybe not as exciting as this though

Originally looking at this video I did notice the front wheel cantered a bit more than normal.. I'll take a mulligan please

I got Jeeps at Fort Fisher when I clicked on it, but it's an RC Jeep at Fort Fisher. They have Remote Control toys that look like the real thing but unfortunately they are still RC cars.

I'm in Southport part time. There is each access for real cars at Ft Fisher ( at least there was last year). Thats about it for public access. Closest after that is up in the Uahawi (sp) national forest; a good 2 or 3 hours away.

There are a lot of dirt roads with some mud holes but thet are on the pine tree plantations. Private land and most of it leased to hunt clubs.

There is a Jeep club in Wilmington. They have a web page that may have some info.

There's a guy around here with a CJ that says 383 stroker on the hood. I've never tracked him down to see if that's what is really in there.

Fort Fisher is nice, Get there for low tide the water is cleaner usually. I was there two weekends ago and had Caribbean blue, warm water with a sandbar 75 yards out. It's a state park so no booze, dogs off leash etc. It's $12 for a day pass but it's only 4 miles of beach so go on a weekday.

I have never been there but there is also Freeman park at Carolina beach I think. From what I understand they charge alot to keep the kids out.

So are you going treasure hunting? I didn't know they allowed 4x4's on oak island? I live about 10 miles away from it.

There's an Oak Island, NC also. I like the show about the treasure hunters though.
