Noobie-79 CJ7

Picked up this 79 CJ7.

Still trying to get some thing organized, so I haven't even picked it up yet.

2-304 V8s- Notice the awsome install of 1where the backseat is supposed to be.
Automatic- TH400- Now sitting in the back of my Chevy P/U
Quadratrac- Conveniently mounted next to the right font tire for easy access
AMC 20 Rear/ Dana44 Front

The 304 is a gonner so looking around for a good or rebuildable 360 or 401.
I am considering dumping the Quadratrac for a Dana20, but research has proven this may be more difficult than I realized. When shopping hubs it is stated thet they do not fit Q-Trac.

Any insight on what horrific mistake I am about to make would be appreciated.

Just throwing out there, the Quadratrac is a great t-case, just gets a bad rapp due to poor service. As long as the chain is kept within spec and you use the proper fluid for it, it is a fantastic case. They normally come as full time 4wd, offer low-range capability if equipped, and you can also purchase a part-time 2wd kit for it. Just throwin that out there for you. BTW, I run a built 304 (although now having some issues with it) on 38.5 TSL SX's and have not a problem with the t-case. Also running the stock t400 with a shift kit.
