Newbie & newbie question!

OK, had a Wrangler in 1989. Had to sell it for marriage (I know, I know) and now amd looking at a 1984 CJ7 in great shape for $6900.00 I do not understand why it has a different roll bar then what I am used to seeing. This has a full roll bar. He says it's stock. Did some of the CJ7's come with a different roll bar (just depends on what people ordered or what Jeep decided to put on that perticular Jeep?) I don't get it?

I know it's a silly question but I was hoping someone here knew!

Thanks in advance!

Every late CJ I have seen had the basic hoop just behind the front seats and down bars going back to the fender tops.
I saw some without rool bars, but those were either export models or had the metal top (world cab version). I haven't seen a "factory" full cage.
Did he buy it new from the dealership? it is 21 years old.....a lot could have changed? who knows.

6900 for a cj... must be in perfect or near perfect shape. i have never seen a CJ with a stock full roll bar... i would look into this further.

OK--thank you--and that was my next question. I have never bought an older Jeep and I wasn't sure if $6900 was a good price. It is in very good shape. Has a V8 and the engine was overhauled 2000 miles ago along with a tranny overhaul also. Old man owned it and took very good care of it. He showed me $13000.00 in receipts--he needs to dump it quick to pay for some medical procedure for his ailing wife.

6900 is not an unreasonable price depending on where you live. shop arround and see what jeeps go for in your area. most of us probably have thousands and thousands invested in upkeep and improvement. make sure it has what you want and little or no rust and go for it.
