New Springs With No Lift
I have an 83 CJ7, 258, hard top and doors and a tuffy trunk behind the rear seat. The Jeep needs new springs but I dont want any lift. Now it sits nose up but would like it level or nose down just a bit. I here a lot of talk of using YJ springs in a CJ for a better ride but cant find someone who has done the swap without lift springs. Will stock YJ springs lift a CJ? If not who has the best stock springs. If the stock YJ springs do give the CJ a lift, how much?

When I broke one of my spring packs out having too much fun, I just went to a local 'truck' spring shop I found in the Yellow pages that handles semi tractors and dump trucks and they ordered me in a new 'OEM' spring pack with no lift.
I did want a 2.5" lift to run 33's, so they opened the stock packs, arched them for 2.5" and replaced the top free leaf with a pre-arched 'keeper' spring. This was 8 years ago and they have held great. The nice part about using a real spring shop vs a 4x4 shop, is they don't use platinum tools nor do they sell gold plated springs like they 'must' do at 4x4 places to justify the cost. They were even fighting over who got to do the 'toy' truck when the boss laughed and said 'forget it, I am doing it'. If I remember right I ended up paying less than $500.00 for all 4 done.

J C Whitney actually sells a good quality set of replacement springs for a CJ. They read as giving you 1" of lift over stock.
