Just an observation, you only have half the body mounts showing, there are galvanized inserts that go in the mount centers so when you bolt it the washers bottom out on this sleeve so the poly part is 'captured' by the washers and sleeve making an up and down shock absorber. This prevents overcompression and blowing out of the mounts.

Check the third part down on this page:

lol - I was just looking at those last night - thanks. Wasn't 100% sure if I needed them. I used the black with hardner on the frame as well - was in a hurry cause temps where dropping so it isn't perfect. This weekend is going to be nice to I will make sure to follow the directions to the "T". It does appear to be more resistant to scuffing and scratches - has a nice shine to it as well. Though hard to compare since I haven't used just the paint without hardner.

Not too much stuff - the dang garage keeps shrinking on me.

Looking at the rubber body mounts - they don't have the built in sleeve like the poly ones do. So would a person still need those inserts on the poly bushings?

Hey man, great build. Kinda nice seeing others go through the same fun that I did! Take a look through my build, I did the YJ tub swap, had to rebuild the body mounts, as well as other frame portions, and stretched my rear end and comp cut on my 79 CJ7. Went with XJ springs in the rear for a good stretch. Been happy with the way it looks thus far, but haven't been able to flex it out off road just yet. Build looks great though! I got a little stalled on mine when I ran out of big stuff to do, so please keep it going and don't stop until you are done! BTW...what are your plans with the burnt center console from the YJ?

Hey - yeah I read through your build thread awhile back when I was working one of my 12hr night rotations. I thought about the XJ rears, but decided to stick with waggy rears since its less modifications for now...... Sucks - I got a set of waggy fronts for free, but one is messed up, and now the waggy I bought they are sagging real bad now too. Probably end up buying a new set of 44044 waggy's soon (actually once the buyer comes and picks up the remainder of my waggy donor rig). Been pricing out my next items - and good god, I hope I win the lotto soon.......

You probably don't want the center console (if thats what you are inquiring about). The top hinges are very tight (could be sprayed and freed), but the bottom is rusted out. If that don't deter ya, heck you can have it - lol. If it weren't for getting plates and destroying my polaris radiator I'ld have about 1k in "jeep mod money"..

The rubber mounts I recently got have the same built in sleeves as the last set of poly mounts I bought, you just can't see them, they are under the rubber.

The poly mounts I put in back in 2000 plain, like yours, thinking the 'built in' sleeves were proper and figured on reusing them last winter when I put a new frame in. Only 2 were salvageable, the rest had overcompressed and blown out.

They need the steel inserts to be structurally complete.

Got the front of the frame painted, and been sandblasting more parts. Now comes the fun part, I have no more "stuff sold" money, and have to start dipping into my own pocket book - lol. Going to search for my tranny mount on my next off days, and need to buy complete fuel and brake lines.

I should have gone this route myself, I wanted a V8 and originally went for a SBC and changed my mind and picked up a 258. A Waggie/Chero/J10-J20 is probably the most economical way to get a V8 in a CJ if it was not orignally a 304.

Great job on the build!

lol - it gets frustrating at times - one step foward, two steps back kinda stuff. I won't lie, I've debated selling and looking for a more complete, or even better, a running CJ7......

Well ordered the following:
MORE motor mounts
Offy 4 barrel intake

Also buying another D300 tcase and tf999 - found out these past days off that my D300 is siezed up either on the input shaft or the intermediate shaft. Thanks for all the comments and help....

That tractor paint is some awesome stuff! I had some stuff for almost 30 a qt and the tractor paint is 9. The tractor paint is much more shiny and durable then the expensive stuff. If you dont use the hardener though, it will take 8+ hours to dry.

Well holiday spending has put an extreme slow down on the jeep project. Here's some update - sorry no pics at this time

Picked up TF999 that was ill, but came with a good d300 tcase. Got my tranny mount now too ..... Am getting some stuff for christmas as well:

- Twin stick for my D300
- New poly bushing for my t-case
- D300 gasket kit
- got a few of the above mentioned metal sleeves for my body mounts

Picked up this gem at an auction:

Only down fall is the axles are NT - but appears they both have been redone alittle. Has brand new quadratech stainless brake lines (will be using those), new gas tank and skid, and the tire are new (selling to my dad).

Since the weather is now cold - can't really paint anything (very minimal heat in the shop), so the plan is to assembly my stuff to see what else I need, and how it looks. Still need fuel lines, and my waggy springs. Got a lead on some mildly built D44 with 4.88s too....

Okay here is the tenative winter plan:

1. Install my christmas gifts
2. need a new fuel line: tank to pump
3. Purchase 2 44044 waggy springs for rear and install
4. Reinstall gas tank
5. Redo rear brake line (76-80 line shorter and terminates at different cross memeber)
6. Finish quick sand of engine block / oil pan, etc
7. Install D300 twin stick and remount tcase to tranny
a)install tf999 mount to 727
b)install poly bushing
9. Mount tranny/tcase to motor an secure to mounts
10. Install tub and body lift
11. Install windshield / frame
12. Fit front rollcage hoop
13. Interior parts - got to go through my boxes of parts to see what is needed.
a)install and wire dash
b)steering
c)tranny shifter (not sure which route yet)
d)wiring

Hopefully this gets me to spring, or springish - lol. Also hoping to be able to fire up motor, so guess I should add radiator to my list as well.
