New Member 1981 CJ-7 engine questions

Just picked up a 1981 cj-7. Decent shape, low mileage. What can be done with all of the spaghetti of vacuum hoses under the hood? Engine doesn't run as smooth as it should. Good compression check, rebuilt carb. Seems like a vacuum leak problem. Have tried to trace everything and they look good. Is there any kind of bolt-on upgrade to the emissions system that will get rid of all of this junk? Can I upgrade to a harness from a later model? Any shops that specialize in engine mods?

Thanks for your help

What engine? 6 cyl? V-8? 4-banger?

Regardless, trying to keep all that crap intact and chase down a vacuum leak isn't a fun process.

If it was mine, I'd first eliminate all the basic possible vacuum leaks, like intake, carb mount, etc, before I started tracing vacuum lines.
