A guy I work with gave me a 5687 with all the cables and stuff. And after about a month of messing around with it I did the same thing you did. Said screw it and put it in Craigslist and went and bought a new one.

Since we're on the subject, here's a piece from the WARN Blog about the history of the Belleview. It talks about some of the early features and what was upgraded in 1974 when the M8274 came out.
