Today, I changed out all fluids and filters. All the wiring is hooked up, so I started cleaning out the fuel tank. The original tank is made of stainless, so I just poured in a quart of muratic acid and sloshed it around.

Nice and clean now! I will simply mount the tank in place of the bed for now just to get her up and running. Later I will see about installing the extra CJ tank I have.

I pulled the bucket seats out of my parts YJ, and they fit the CJ10 cab perfectly. So does the center console. I was going to use the original 70/30 bench seat, but decided I like comfort above nostalgia...

So I will install the tank and fire her up in the next couple of days. I'm a bit nervous about cranking the engine so much until the injectors get primed.

Hasn't run in a very long time, so it will be tough on the bearings, but I'll try to get the fuel primed first. I'm going to post over on Binder planet and see if they have a trick to prime the SD-33.

I like your project a lot. I've wanted something similar for a while. But, at the same time, I keep thinking that's got to be the ugliest Jeep I've ever seen (in a good way).

Thanks Balvar... I totally agree with you. I wanted one so bad, but the ugliness is growing. I had procured a set of TJ and YJ fenders, but have since decided the CJ10 fenders are kind of cool because they are so different.

It is real easy to swap fenders, so I'll run them.

I hooked up a bettery and turned the key. Nothing but some noises coming from the injection pump. They sound normal, like a servo motor setting itself.

Headlights come on, as well as various other lights.

I jumpered the solonoid, and the starter cranks the engine, so the problem is no power to the solonoid.

I'm thinking nuetral safety switch. There are 3 wires going to the switch.
Blk/Or/Wht w/tracer.

Anyone know which ones to jumper to bypass this for testing?

Also, my oil pressure switch has the terminal broken off, so the single green wire going to it won't snap on to it. Do I just ground it out to bypass the oil pressure sw?

I have no wiring diagram for this, but the wires are close to the same as a CJ.

Wish I could help ya, but I don't know the answers. Maybe pick up a new solenoid and don't worry about jumping it?? I just want you to HURRY UP!

Hi There !
Jeep looks great..

For neutral safety switch,I dont think cj10a has one.It had some sort of mechanical restriction on steering column which let you start only on park and neutral.
For priming ;Probably you already know but i would use hand pump on injector pump until it gets really hard to pump.
You may need to use new fuel filter too, during my deployment old fuel gunked up everything.(Eventhough i used fuel preserver )
I am happy to see the jeep resurrecting..

Gunnar,
Glad to hear from you again.
Hope your deployment is going well.

I found the problem to be the oil pressure switch connector. I spliced in a new connector, and she fired up on the first crank then died.

I reprimed all the way up to the injector pump, then she fired up and ran.

Oil pressure showed 50psi on my mechanical guage i installed.

I shut her down since I had no fluid in the radiator. Pinhole leak where the oil cooler line hooks into the bottom of the radiator.

Will pull it, and get cleaned up as soon as the shop opens on Monday.

I don't have a muffler installed yet, even though I have one to put on.

Will head back to the parts store to get the reducer I need for the 3" muffler I am using. Should give me a nice mellow sound...

Got the adapters, and installed the muffler.

Cleaned up the interior with soapy water, and started installing the seatbelts.
Passenger side went fine, but the driver side still not finished. The parts YJ I have won't give it up easily. I broke two torx sockets trying to get the last bolt off. Going to remove it with a grinder.

I still need a rear shock solution, and a fuel tank. Probably will use the tank off the yj, since the filler will fit the tub nicely. Lots of work still left!

You're not wasting any time on this thing Eric.

Hey those torx screws can be drilled out real easy if you need to.

Jim,
Yeah, I will try a drill first. Seems like last time I tried to drill those hardened bolts, I got frustrated and just ground the heads off, but you probably own better drill bits than I do.

Managed to drill out the torx that was being stubborn. So I installed the belts and seats. I decided to install the rear carpeting that was in the YJ behind the seats. figure it will cut down on some road noise.

Also I am using the center console. Some seat covers, and I think they will be fine. The fitment is perfect using the stock holes for everything.

Thanks Skerr,

Saw your Easter photos. Looks like you had a nice day off. Myself, I got to watch a lot of basketball. No family in town, so the wifey and I just vegged.

Going to go out and pull the gas tank out of the YJ now. See if I can make it fit frame of the 10. Also, take the radiator in for cleaning and repair. Getting closer...
