New CJ10-A project

Getting ready to start a new project. First off though, the A/C tug has no title as it was bought from an auction (not by me).

Anyone know what is involved with getting this registered?

I plan on a rock crawler project, but hate to tow to trails. I also don't want to be limited to where I can legally travel, so a title id necessary.

As a last resort I can merge it with a Scout 800 I have that is titled, so all is not lost.

I will be officially starting a build thread very soon if anyone is interested.

Some details on the CJ10-A:
Nissan SD33 diesel engine
NP198 transfer case locked in low
TF727 3 speed tranny
D70 w/4:88 rear
D44 front straight axle w/disc
Shortened FSJ (Wagoneer) frame

A lot of good mixed in with some bad, but should be an interesting project none the less.

For titling info I'd start with the Texas Dept. of Motor Vehicles website. No sense getting info that might not be valid in your state.

Hi Eric. Another build thread, if this turns out as well as your other projects it ought to be good.

Pictures too, yes we need to see what you've procured here for this project.

Eric, PM me sometime and I'll go over what I've been going through getting a bonded title sorted out on my 800A. I should finally have the title in hand this week or next after jumping through numerous hoops

Yeah, I know the feeling all too well! Mine freaked over "another vehicle". What's wrong with the other 9? I haven't told her yet about the second CJ10-A yet.

My wife told me NO MORE JEEPS... so I'm going to find a 1968 to 70 AMX.

She didn't say no more cars.

The CJ-10A's are not possible to title, as it was never a highway vehicle. The Government will not provide you a DD-97 form, that you need to get a title.

The airport tug vehicles (also made by Ford, and I think Dodge) are classified as "tractors", and not considered highway vehicles by the government.

Making it into another vehicle is a very grey area....

Bummer, That's what I heard, but was hoping it wasn't true.

Balvar, Yes, I'm keeping the diesel. I been running homemade biodiesel in my F20 for 4 years now. $1.00/gal. That is the main reason for the build. I was at first just looking for a diesel engine for my Scout since they came with SD33's originaly, that made the most sense. The guy gave me the complete rolling chasis/drivetrain for the price of the engine.

I'm kind of liking the possibilities of being creative with it, so here we go. I get bored easily, and this will help for a couple of months I hope!

Gojeepin,
I would love an AMX! I know where a pacer is
