Need Some advice on cj5 engine swap

Ok My buddy wants to put a small block of some type in his 83 cj5. It currently has a 6 cylinder and 5 speed tranny. Any info and advice on this change would be very welcome in advance

Way too vague of a question. How much experience with engines does your friend have? Can he do the work himself? What's his budget?

You or he need to provide a little more information about what he's looking for.

There a whole lot of hidden agendas in an engine swap from motor mounts to linking the transmission. Research, research, research!

Find a AMC V-8, It's a bolt in deal.
That OEM 5-speed won't last....
