Need Help My 1980 cj7 is popping and pulling

ok i have a 1980 cj7 4cylinder 4 speed. about 2 days ago it started making popping noises coming from the transfer case area. i checked my plugs just in case and they are fine but when i took the shifter boots off i noticed some fluid build up in the skid plate. it pops and feels like it is pulling me back some. i made sure i hadnt accidentally knocked it into 4 wheel drive but its still giving me problems. does anyone know wat it might be

Could this popping and pulling problem be ignition related or is it related to the t-case/transmission?

Mine was popping. I pulled it and took it apart. The Range Fork was ground down on one side. It could be that the plastic bushings are worn down and need to be replaced. Obviously I would check all the U-joints before pulling the TC.
