My 1st 1981 Cj5, Basic Questions
Just got it this weekend!!! Im no super mechanic, but can do more than the basics. Are there any free online pdf files for this year cj?
I have to replace a broke flywheel, and all other things that need maintaining/cleansing after 2 years of not running in a back yard...plus are back seats made for this model?
Any help is appreciated
Jason

Welcome to JF.You will learn alot from this site,I have built my 85 cj using info I have gathered here. The best thing I would recommend first is a chilton manual,it helps alot. They have alot of illustrations in it.

I believe there are back seats for the CJ5. I've found that http://www.summitracing.com is a great place to purchase seats because they only charge $11.95 shipping. Also, keep an eye out on eBay and http://www.craigslist.org for spare parts. I've seen plenty of back seats on eBay in my area, but nothing that color matches my interior as of yet. And craigslist is amazing. Just this last weekend I picked up a like-new radiator and a pair of Bestop full soft doors that match my soft top, all for $75! Not bad at all!
The first thing I would do is change all the fluids (engine, transmission, transfer case, gears, etc.). The flywheel shouldn't be too difficult as long as you have the right tools and know what you're doing. Anyways, good luck and have great fun!

Replacing the flywheel is a breeze if you have an air impact wrench. If not it can be a PITA.

not to get stuck on the backseat issue, but I have been looking for a replacement lately, and FYI... I haven't found one that will mount to the factory hardware, If you have it. I believe the stock rear reats in the 5's unlatch in the back and tilt forward, but do not fold and tumble...
of course, I may be waaaay off.
in any event, congrats on the new rig

Welcome. If it has'nt been started in two years you should prime the oil system before you start it. Mark the timing on the distributor then pull it. They make a special tool for the oil pump to use in a drill to prime the whole system. You should be able to borrow one from a parts house.
