as SonicR1 posted, we had a nice day trip into the Rubicon Springs Monday. 4 families in 4 Jeeps.

We made it down with 1 minor issue, the JK with us couldn't engage his transfer case. One look under the sheets is all it took to notice the "C" or retaining clip that holds the transfer case cable on the post/rod that shifts the transfer case was missing and the cable had popped off. Easy fix there and we were on our way. We covered the 7.4 miles in less then 3 hours under partly cloudy but warm skies and Cadillac Hill proved to be much easier this year then in years past.

SonicR1 and I:

Once in the Springs we ate lunch, swam, kids goofed off and took turns on the rope swing. We headed back out after awhile. A couple of rain drops fell but no big deal right? WRONG! We started noticing puffs of dust exploding everywhere! Big drops of rain will do that!

As we slowly climbed back out of the canyon the rain, thunder and lightning kicked in like a good, afternoon mountain thunderstorm would do. Only this time, as the pictures indicate, no tops or doors make a very wet return! I finally stopped and put my windshield up and bimini top on. No puddles coming in, but, in a matter of minutes pools of puddles on the way out! At least that kept the dust at bay...

the new driver in my household:

lastly, just a few scenic shots of some beautiful country I never grow tired of:

SonicR1 didn't break anything this year (his TJ performed flawlessly) and his driving only required 1 winching! No dents, breakage or damage to the rest of us made for a wonderful but wet day. I can't until next years trip...

hmmm.... I'm only seeing 1 Jeep. Are the others in the background, hidden by those 3 wranglers parked beside you?
Great pics man, thanks for sharing.

He's off in denial. Every day he laments the old CJ being gone and just can't come to grips with it. I bet he still keeps a picture of it next to his bedside. Hey Bill where are you??? Trying to trade that TJ off on a Jeep?

Bill and his family are great people and I think they all enjoyed themselves...his TJ is pretty bullet proof now because he was able to keep up with my CJ

Renegade--I had seen the post, I laughed and thought, yeah, I got nothin...

I still miss the CJ!!! I actually found a CJ7 a few months ago that I almost bought, but decided to put the money into my TJ (the 8.8 and truss, gears/lockers front and rear)... I don't think I will get rid of this TJ for any reason other than, I have to for my families survival... That being said, I am not apposed to getting it a companion CJ!!!

I am amazed at Mike's CJ... that thing just goes!!! It doesn't hurt that he can drive!!!

Scott, I think there is another pic of me in my thread... no, it's not in the dreaded "TJ forum", so you won't have to be seen there... it's in builds... hehehehe

this morning I went through my CJ's undercarriage trying to isolate any leaks I have. My RMS has, what I thought, occasionally been leaking and I have had my head in the sand not wanting to have to tackle that project. Thanks to Ken4444, his aluminum valve cover he sent, me that I installed last Fall, is dry as a bone, so I am confident that is not the leaky culprit. As I lied under the motor looking up at the oil pan and it's bolts that had oily residue on them, I took a ratchet to them, and, to my surprise, dang near every single bolt needed tightening! I spent a few minutes torqueing them all down and wiping up the oily residue. I now have my fingers crossed that the marks left in my garage are mostly from the loose bolts on the oil pan and less from the RMS. Stay tuned...it can't be that easy, can it?
