Works for me.

I'm happy with mine, V6 runs smoother with it, starts faster.

Try it and see for yourself. If you got it in a trade and you don't like it sell it.

Mine works well in my 304. Smoother idle and faster starts. If you install it, pay attention to which coil you run-some are not compatible.

You may want to read this thread before installing an MSD.

It was a sound investment. Don't get it wet, or you'll be taking it apart and looking for blown traces. I did with mine, it's still running nearly 10 years after that dunk...and repair. It's hermetically sealed with silicone now too. BTW, the craftmanship inside is gawd awful hokey and looks like it was made by a stoned slacker high school kid. At least mine did. However, as stated, it keeps working fine.

If coupled with a Howell TBI, you will need a new filter in the Howell setup and a diode to your alternator regulator IIRC. The diode was for the MSD install and the vehicle would not shut off without the diode. It was in the MSD installation documentation. If you lack it, send me a PM and I'll go look for it if you cannot find it on the web. Be patient with me, I don't frequent this forum like I used to, but I'm always happy to help a fellow jeeper.

 There's a negative thread about everything out there. Stuff is bound to go wrong with something, somewhere to someone.

I run it and I can't fault it, I have a MSD 6al, coil and billet distributor, starts easily and runs and revs really smooth and very simple to install

Mine works great. Starts, idles, and revs easily. You will need the diode otherwise it will not shut off, there are instructions for it, no big deal. I did leave my old ignition in place so if needed I can swap back to it if the MSD fails.

Only when it got wet.

Buy the vibration model which is filled with RTV. Or buy the 6al, breach the case, seal with silione or urethane, and move on and save a few bucks.

Are you saying this was a bad place to put this?

If so where else do you suggest

I just meant stuff in general. Heck, most folks like the 258 but I'm sure someone somewhere is ranting that their 258 is junk and no one should trust it. That's all I was saying. It doesn't matter how good something is, you can have 20 comments positive, I wouldn't weigh my decision on one negative.

Good advice. I think I may follow it.

Tried it and went back to a ACCEL coil.

I think the ACCEL works just as good.

It works in conjunction with a coil, it won't work without one. This statement makes little if any sense to me.

If you plan on mudding it like your other pics,I would mount it inside and up under the dash....Just lengther the wires if needed...I run a full 7 digital msd on my 8 and havent had anyproblems with a 6al and some other msd products..They just need to be dry and kept somewhat cool..
