Motorcraft 2100 for 258

Hey everyone!

Just want to say thanks for all the help and knowledge I've gained from reading and posting this far.
I did have a thread about which Weber and where to buy last, but since then I slept and changed my mind.

Today I picked up a $10 Motorcraft carb(think it's a 2100? It is a 2 barrel though). I plan on cleaning it and using some other carbs available to me for what's damaged and missing, the other carbs are missing items as well or I would have just used one of them. This will be replacing my Carter BBD on my 258.

My questions at this point are....

1) Which adapter plate do I need to order? Anyone have a part number or link?

2) What's my safest bet for a model vehicle to order a rebuild kit for this carb for? I'm not real sure what this came off or if it's what I need, although it looks like it.

If these parts are available at O'Reilly's or Autozone that would be great, I really like dealing with O'Reilly's because I can get it quick and take it back easily if it's wrong.

The pictures I'm attaching are the carbs I have to work with. The ugliest carb is the one I just picked up and am going to start cleaning tonight. The other is more incomplete. I was also told I will have to rig up a manual choke or buy the parts for the electric choke portion, maybe even use the ones off my BBD. If it runs better with the motorcraft that BBD is NOT going back on there! Thank you very much for your time and guidance.

If you are in az I have a 2100 that works fine with a rebuild kit that you can have. As to fitmint that 258 an AMC? If it is then a spacer is all you need.

I'll pay for shipping and some extra if you are willing to do that(paypal gift?). I was scared to get one off ebay(not real interested in a Chinese one) and it's not like I'm real invested in the $10 one I picked up today.

Yes it is for the 258 AMC motor on my 76 CJ7, it will be replacing a 2 barrel Carter BBD.

I am in north Georgia.

I don't mind either way. I can probably express mail it to you. As long as you cover shipping. It was on my cj functioning about a month ago before I tore down for the rebuild. Just let me know.

Use summit racing for your parts. Trust me. Autozone and orielly are ok in a pinch but parts quality and fitment can be an issue.

Not sure. I would imagine whatever ran on the 360.

The 360 used a 1.21 venturi. The 2100 swaps I've seen used a 1.08 venturi, which was stock for 304s.

The venturi size will be cast into the side of the carb, if it's a real MC2100. See pic.

You want the smallest 1.08 venturi size for your 258.

Cool I will check and see what I got. Drakenwulf really went out of his way and helped me out by sending me a working 2100. I can't wait to get it on there. Can you swap venturis on these 2100's?

You won't really need a choke if you're in N. GA. I swapped a 2100 on my first CJ, and never used the choke in NC.

Venturis are basically the carb body, so no, not swappable.

Transdapt 2037 is the cheap adapter. I have successfully used that one on one Jeep. My other one wouldn't run right with the transdapt adapter. I was getting leaks so I bought a Gronk Performance adapter. It is MUCH better made and solved my leaking problems, but was $65 vs the $15 or so I paid for the transdapt.

Maybe I will get lucky and have a 1.08 venturi 2100 carb body in my incomplete carbs I could swap in, if the 2100 from Drakenwulf is too much. It's going to be a fun weekend.

Maybe I'll do some target practice with my old zip tied carter BBD once my swap is complete... JK!
