However I want to confirm what alternator wire I should use. I upgraded to the GM CS130 a while back. I have the two wire adapter, with the S terminal (voltage regulator) jumpered to the batt terminal on the back of the alt. This leaves the L terminal, which I have wired to the ignition switch. I assume that I should use the L excite wire spliced with the ignition for the choke, right?
Check to make sure that wire is not hot when the engine is not running but ignition is on.
Otherwise you can just skip the relay and connect the choke directly to a connection that is hot when the ignition is on.
Problem with that is the choke can open up if you leave the key in the on position and then you will not have the choke closed when you try to start it. That was the whole purpose of the relay setup, to select an electrical source that is only powered when the engine is actually running. Not sure you can do that with that alternator. But I've been surprised before.
Oops. I did some more research and saw that you actually did mean an oil pressure switch. I'm gonna test the field wire in the ACC position first. If no power, I'll just use that . If power, I will pick up a switch and I guess hook up a tee fitting to handle the sensor and the switch.
Thanks, John . To confirm my understanding, is the choke diaphragm not needed at all when using an electric choke?
