More 360 questions
Hey thanks for the input on the T5! Now for a few more questions. I have a 77 cherokee with a 360/th400. I want to put the 360 in my 258/t5 powered 82 cj7 and keep the t5. I know I need new motor mounts, exhaust, radiator, etc. What is involved with converting an engine with an automatic to one with a manual trans? I think that the bellhousings are both the same so there shouldnt be a problem there. What about the flywheel and input shaft on the trans? Any help is appreciated!
There's a VERY thin bushing in the back of the crank that's used to center the torque converter on your TH-400. The bushing is HARD to see, but has to be removed to install the proper pilot bushing. Advance Adapters has the right bushings.
Also, I'd re-think using a T-5 behind even a mild 360. It won't last long! :(
You'll need to get a 360-balanced flywheel, too.
Make sure your bell housing has the opening for the clutch linkage. In addition, I would change tranny's... that isn't going to last long. Your right about the engine mounts, exhaust, rad, and you'll need the flywheel which is hard to find for less than $150 to $200 bucks. Do you have the correct brackets for the clutch in the cab?
