I have just been wondering where all of you guys get all of your $, It seems like you never run out. Did all of you guys win the Lotto? :D Hehe. Or do you just sell them after you build them up?

I do metal fab (cages, bumpers, tire carriers, etc) to finance my Jeep. I'm also a Principal Facility Engineer which tends to bring in a few $$.

I try hard to find ways to keep the cost down,I bought both my jerry cans at garage sales. I bought the front grill guard for a Samuri at a garage sale and cut part off then used it on the Jeep. Also instead of buying a Tuffy security console I used one of the larger ammo cans painted black the same color as my interior for a security console. Also I herculined my tub at ha=ome rather than paying a shop to do it.Made my own side guards from angle iron. Those kind of things that you do your self saves you a lot of money.

It's all part of the fun of owning a jeep. There's a reason J ust E mpty E very P ocket is such a common catch phrase. It's so hard not to throw every extra penny we get at the rigs we love. And the best part (or worst) is how manufacturers are constantly trying to keep up with the new force of homegrown ideas appearing every year. Our jeeps will never be "done" since the next great idea is just around the corner. My best advice for helping with the money issue is become friends with someone who loves to weld.

Yeah that is a good Idea. My dad is a welder and we made my rear bumper with a hitch and also put new floor boards in. :D

I turned wrenches when I bought my Jeep. It paid well so I managed to do a few alterations. Now Iím a traffic signal electrician for the government so IM BROKE! (Have a lot of days off to play though)

Crusty ,
I have been in the automotive / truck business for 19 years . Mechanic / Bodyman . I currently have been working for a movie studio (lets just say we have a "tour")for 13 years were I run the body shop . We are heavy fabricators and creativity goes a long way . Not your ordinary type shop ,we work on everything from golf carts to movie cars to big rigs to tour trams . It is a challenge but it pays the bills
I also take on alot of side work , Jeeps ,jet skis , boats ,cars ,anything to make some JEEPIN money !

Besides making decent money as a civil/structural engineer, I personally buy cheap Jeeps and part them out. I keep that money separate and fund my "bad habits" with it, so it doesn't "impact" my budget. Works well!

hahah. it's a thing called "DAD". I also get really good deals on jeep parts at the local auto part store... it's true, they cut me deals cause i'm a girl!

Alllrightythen!

I'm merely an Exercise Physiologist, so I know alot about physiology but nothing about motors. Well, at least I'm learning about them. But eventually I'll be looking at taking a vow of poverty by entering the seminary, so I'm getting the Jeep thing out of my system (if that's even possible).

Actually, doesn't it seem like owning a Jeep is in essence making a vow of poverty?! :D

Wow, a girl talking crap because her dad bought her a V8 CJ5. :D I like it. My parents helped originally but now I'm on my own. My approach as of late is the popular Visa Loan. Which I am partially paying off with the Student loan. Other than that Bartending has to fund the dough. My roomate bought the welder and I bought the torch so things work out well. Oh and by the way I also have a V8 wonder who's is bigger???

I'm an industrial mechanic. That pretty much means if it runs, rotates, spins or just simply goes... I can fix it. I finance my Jeep addiction with a creative fiscal side-step with the family budget. I MAKE MY WIFE DO THE BILLS!!!!

Then, I allot her a fixed amount from my check every week. Anything over, i.e. overtime, bonuses, etc is mine to toy with.

I also buy, fix-up and sell a few trucks and cars on the side to "massage" my bankroll a little.

mud4me 05-26-2002 06:36 PM

Many of the expenses are "business related"

Also being single with no children has a lot to do with it

The time now is 02:39 AM.
