Looking good!

The wall on the high side of the shed roof would be a perfect location for a row of clerestory windows, to high to crawl through or look inside but out of the way of shelves or cabinets on the inside. It looks like a 2x10 header between the garage and shop, if so, you may consider a 2x12 header.

We bought our first house in Houston in 1995, the Realtor seemed to have trouble *finding* the key to the detached garage. The day we closed the key showed up so we went to look at the garage. After inspecting the outside of the garage the home inspector said the slab was cracked and there was signs of termites but noted none were active. I went inside and found a cracked slab, and some signs of old termite tunnels. With an 8 month old and a wife 8 months pregnant with a second I signed that day.

About a year later I saw a termite tunnel on the slab and called an exterminator, he went inside for the inspection and started pushing his screwdriver through every other stud. I was so PO I thought my head would explode; I never did resolve the issue with the seller or the Realtor. Termites are bad mofo's!!!

That sucks Dave!! I hate WDI's worst then wasp and bees. The beam is made from two 2 x 12 x 16's. I like the transom window idea but to late and out of the building budget.

Might need a bigger A/C unit or at least another one

Looking Good!

P.S. The roof pitch/drain looks like it will flood out the neighbors property (unless that is yours behind the fence), hope they don't complain to much. A gutter would take care of that though. Just a thought.

The fence is leaning pretty good so it looks a little closer than it is but it is close. I was planning on fixing it before the addition but time did not allow. The runoff will hit my side once the fence is fixed. I am going to have to stick a gutter back there, with the old addition that was back there I did get some standing water between it and the fence. The new addition is about a foot closer to the fence.

Well got to work a little yesterday and some today on the shop. First time since the day before Christmas. Got all the rafters are in but 3 and the walls and rafters are all blocked. Rafters are clipped as well. Tomorrow going to get the last 3 rafters in, install the flashing between the old roof and new walls, and finish tieing the old building down on the beam. Saturday going to start on some decking.

Jeep has been down and out for 2 weeks as well. About 2 months ago it started to become hard to start after sitting over night. Kind of like when the filter is not installed correctly and the fuel drains out. Two weeks ago decided to mess with it a little. After running it 10 minutes I noticed fuel dripping out the accelerator pump down on to the header. Turns out the bottom bolt on the accelerator pump cap stripped it self out and will not tighten back down. **Might** try to tap it out and install a bigger bolt. **Might** just let it sit. I have a couple of 2100's sitting around but its cold and even if it was running I would not be driving it much right now. 360 is going in once the shop is done and the 79 parts jeep is broken down so it just might sit. Just dont feel like putting any more effort in to this 258.

Glad to hear you got some shop work done, MoC. I know you are ready to move it. Sorry about your Jeep. Funny how that stuff happens.

Well, MoC..take advantage of the fact that it's cold out, and let the Jeep sit. Focus on your shop addition. Once that's done, you'll have an even better place to work on the jeeps !

Wouldn't it be cool to just bang it out while he was at work one day!? The "Shop Fairies" did it! Well, you could be the shop fairy, Bill... I would be the Shop Troll!!

Well got what I wanted to get done today. Decking goes up tomorrow. Should be smooth other than the connection to the old roof. That will be the only challenge.

Man, did you push those rafters by yourself, them suckers are heavy.

All thats needed now is to wrap it in 30 pound felt and your done.

I can go with Scott as a fairy. But who ever saw a bald headed w/grey wiskers one.
