MoC, do you have residential building codes out there or is this too small and exempt? Just curious, I design homes for a living.

Well mother nature slowed us down today. It rained till about 1pm. Made the trip to Lowes and got all materials but the siding. That was a 3.5 hours job after getting the trailer, loading it at Lowe's, unloading it here, and returning it to the storage unit. Got the rear wall completely blown out and the beam built and up. The temporary jacks are still carrying the load until we finish installing the verticals on top of the beam up to the ridge and rafter. No rain in the future tomorrow so we will get a full day in. Pictures will come tomorrow.

We inspect off of the 2006 IRC. When Louisiana adopted the 06 IRC they did not adopt the admin section or the plumbing section. So we inspect off the 2000 LA State Plumbing Code and the admin section from title 43. The 06 IRC admin section says a AHJ can inspect over code but may not diminish code. By using the title 43 admin code it allows Louisiana AHJ's to diminish code as long as they do it uniformly. A example would be the requirement for fire caulking that should be installed in penetrations from the garage areas in to the living areas. You will never see that here.

This addition does require permitting because of the square footage. We have a 3 foot setback rule from the property line but in order to get the width I needed to make this work it I had to go closer than 3 feet to the fence line. The process to get that approved is a long road that goes through the MPC and zoning board. Talked to my neighbor on the other side of the fence and he was more than cool with it so I did not pull a permit. I was a little worried when the concrete truck was sitting up front but should be fine now since it is in the back yard and out of view.

Got three and 1/2 walls up today. Did not snap a picture after the first two went up. Mother nature is going to dump a inch of rain on me tonight so had to raise everything off the floor of value in the shop. With all the bottom plates in it will hold water... :-(

Also got to meet tigerpaw today, he came and got a timing chain cover. Great guy, just wish I would have more time to talk jeeps but had to get back to work.

.and yes my fence is jacked up, was hoping to fix it before the addition but time did not allow.

So, did you build it the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits?
