So went called auto zone and got the new dizzy gasket for $1.60. Turns out they also stock the cold air duct from the grill to the factory air cleaner for around $10 bucks.

Started off the day by pulling the outers, shafts, and brake hardware off my spare dana 30 thats sitting out back rusting away. Figure they are about the only parts on it I would ever have a chance reusing so I wanted to get them inside.



Pulled the dizzy to change the seal out with the new one. Used some non drying permatex as well. Got the wifey involved in helping find TDC to restab the dizzy.



I have been getting a little blowby out my rear breather which I think might also be why the dizzy started leaking to. We shall see. As long as it holds out till the end of the summer when the 360 is planned I am fine with it.

Installed the cold air duct and painted my rusty brake master cylinder.





So something helpful I have found out. Before I had the cold air duct installed and I had the bug screen installed I was running around 210 degrees when I drove at 65mph which is around 3k rpm's for me. With removing the bug screen I started running around 202 degrees which lowered my 8 degrees. With the cold air duct installed I now run around 195 at the same speed and rpm meaning it lowered my temp another 8 degrees. So with both the bug screen gone and the cold air duct in place I have lowered my temp 16 degrees at 65mph.

About time you got your ugly mug off the avatar. Looks like the your wife is surveying the engine bay to make plans for the 360 transplant. Good wife MoC.

Your engine ought to run a little better getting the cooler air. I have been wondering about hooking up two cool air intakes like what you've got. There's a hole on each side of the grill for that anyway so why not use them both.

also got my plastic glove box installed, the original keyed glove box lock working again, and painted my steering column. Good day of little fixes!

When I saw the picture of your dash it reminded me of what happened after I had just bought my 82 CJ. I was going down the highway with some friends and the soft top was flapping pretty bad. One of my friends that had owned a CJ before said why don't you open the vent up. I asked him what he was talking about and he said the black vent on the bottom of the dash. I told him I thought that it was a tray for storage. I didn't know about pulling the heater knob WAY out to open the vent and pressurize the cab.

And I like your Waggy front end, the TX plate caught my eye.

Just read through your build. Love the way your going with it. Looks like I need to do some of the same things (about to pull the trans and possibly do the clutch while I'm in there) so I will be using your thread as a partial guide. I am approaching mine with a similar mindset. Are you painting everything by rattlecan, or another setup? Everything looks great...keep up the good work!

Everything inside and under has been rattle caned. One day in a Galaxy far far away I am going to do my body work and paint the exterior. Likely pay somone to shoot it after I do all the body work.

The two biggest projects that did not get included in here was my lift, axles, and interior.

Well put about 60 miles on her all at once today which is the furtherest I have gone since doing the tranny & clutch. Went down to Bishop Point boat launch on the red river and drove around it a while. Noting more than a couple of miles of gravel roads but still a good drive on a pretty day. The trip was 55 - 65 mph just above the whole way. Did not break down, no new noises or leaks so it was a good day. Here are a few pictures and also a picture of my blow by. Not to bad for the miles and speed I went. Only a few drops on the bottom as well. Also my dizzy leak is officially fixed, no leaks from it today!

Ha, that blow by isn't bad at all! Mine would surely be soaked at that speed for that long....actually I would have had to stop to add oil

Jeep looks awesome!

Makes me miss those tires!! They were heavy as ***** but I've gotten through more Louisiana mud with those tires than any other!
