I have to ask, how many bees did you see on all those wildflowers? Very pretty indeed...

Hey Moc, I picked up this Jeep book at a swap meet last weekend and it has a few pics of where you were. Nice trip you are having and nice pics you are taking.

OMG! Beautiful, beautiful. In the mine pics... is all the that rock tailings from the mine? That whole slope where the red Jeep is descending?? And that was one BIG motor! Gosh I sure would like to go see all that. Thanks, MoC.

Cool book! Can you snap a picture of the cover? Would be neat to track down a copy for myself.

The slope with the red jeep (my parents) was not tailings, just a bunch or rocks. The motor was pretty large.

Here is a shot of the company that made it. When I get some time I am going to do a little googling and see what I can find out.

Edit: did some searching while everyone is getting ready. It's an electric driven air compressor.

Spent the day doing things the kiddos wanted to do. Went out for breakfast, walked around town, then took the gondola up Aspen mountain, went swimming.

I let Jenn and the kids take the gondola down and I hiked it. Took about 1 hour 40 min to hike down. Was 3312 feet elevation drop from the lift to the base of Ute Trail. 5.1 miles Pretty steep stuff.

It was Rich, I hiked down last when I was 17. The upper portion is less traveled and only came across 2 people. The lower section that goes up to Ute rock (the picture where u can see Aspen next to the big rock) is around 1.2 miles from the base and I saw around 10 folks. Most hike up to the rock and back.

I am sure my knees will be paying for it tomorrow.

Beautiful... Love seeing these pics. May also help me too convince the wife-to-be to take a trip out there with me.. I just wonder how long it would take to travel that far in a CJ at 60-65MPH at 12MPG... Part of my dream is to take MY CJ out and travel some of those passes. Ive heard a few are closed from snow right now though. May sound silly, but growing up listening to C.W. and his stories of Black Bear Road makes me want to relive those songs - but I will not lose my Jeep over the edge of a cliff from a rock slipping out from under the wheel

No sir, Scott's correct they were day rentals. I will say I was impressed with the JK cars we rented both last year and this year. I think my CJ would have beaten us to death.
