Look for Jeephammers posts on wiring up the manifold heater with a relay. So yes, the red wire in the first picture is the 12 volt source wire. The green wire might be the temperature switch wire: if the manifold has heated up well enough, this switch will ground to the engineblock and thus switch off the relay.

In the picture that shows the choke wire you can see a relay in the wire harness. That is the relay that operates the heater under the intake.
