Maybe a 1985 CJ7?

How can I tell what I own??? I have a CJ/Scrambler 1971-86 Repair Manual and in all three pictures none of them match my Vehicle Identification plate. I have the VIN but then I have more numbers below it. J235488 then below that I have 4C 11 1BA. Has anyone ever seen this and can you tell me what year and make I have??? Thanks for the help.

Extreme Rookie,
Jason

This page has VIN decoding information for CJs from 71 to 86:

4C is your color code, which is Ice Blue Metallic. That was only offered from 84-85 so that narrows down your years right there.

1BA is your trim code, which is low back black vinyl seats. That trim code was used from 85-86.

So your guess of an 85 is probably correct. Your VIN will start 1J..............
From that we can tell you your year and trans.

Sounds like you're not looking at the VIN. The VIN will be the last line on the tag. As above .... it should be a 17 digit number starting with 1J ......
