Max tire size

What is the largest tire I can put on my CJ7 with just a 1" shackle lift. My son tells me he had 33/12.5/15 on the 86 CJ7 with a shackle lift and had no rubbing. Only off roading would be the beach/dunes. Thanks. Coastie.

You might be able to physically fit the 33's under the jeep but I would expect some rubbing. Especially if you start bouncing out in the dunes. Do you already have the shackle lift or is it something you are thinking about doing?

I have two inch shackles but have not installed them yet. I read that should give me 1" of lift. Just got 15X10 wagon wheels yesterday so tire are next.

that really depends on the condiotion of your (stock?) springs

if they are severely settled, a small (~1") shackle lift may not even bring you back to stock height.

If you are not running hard off road you might get by with a one inch lift and 33's.
Stock CJ shackles are 3" center to center. 1" lift shackles will be 5" center to center.
Some castor angle problems would not surprise me with a 1" shackle lift.

From my experience, they will DEFINITELY rub!
