Mail Jeep AMC 20

Hi, I found a guy that has about 5, 1982 AMG mail jeeps, does anyone know if
these would have the amc 20 rear differential in them? I have been searching
but can't find out what rear end they have in them.
thanks
Vern

I went out to buy one of these locally one time and found that it had a D44. To the best of my knowledge the DJ series didn't follow the CJ update in '76; the DJ kept the short pre-'72 style fenders and trac-loc D44 right up to the end. The fenders were not usable due to the turn signals being mounted on top, though. I think also the straight six was the 232 variety, not 258. Grille had that stick-out for the I-6. Frame, if I recall, was boxed. I think the one I looked at was an '83.
