Lower shock mount on D30 WT

OK, so I am finishing swapping in a D30 WT into my '84 CJ7. Yes, the PO had put a NT in the front for some reason. Just about done and trying to put my BDS shocks back on. I know on the WT the lower shock now mounts to the bracket that is welded to the axle.

My issue is, that bracket seems a little too wide for my shocks. There is about 1/8 gap when I put the shock in the bracket. I am using 1/2-20 bolts and when I start to torque them the bracket starts to bend in. Am I missing a piece or something?

I would put a washer or two in between the shock and inside ofthe bracket.

That's what I figured I would end up doing. Just did not have a reference to see if I was missing something. The FSM only shows the lower mount to the spring plate.
