looking for original cj radio

I am 99% done my ground up restoration project on my 1986 cj-7 Laredo, and need to find an original jeep-cj radio that will go in the vacant hole.

I bought it with an aftermarket radio in it, and want to restore it to its original look.

I am installing a stereo but it is located in the center console rather in the dash.

Any help would be great, I have called everywhere.

Thanks.

I just did the same thing to my 84. It had a broken tuner knob and i wanted to replace it with somthing that looked original. I got one out of a 79 J-10 pick up truck that looks exactly the same. It works great.

Too bad, I had an original stereo that would have fit great. I got rid of it not too long ago!

Hey...I'm in the process of finding a new stereo for my '84 CJ-7 and the stereo guy says he should be able to put it in the same spot as the old am radio. Anyway, I'd think about getting rid of it if you're still interested. If you check back, drop me a line.

Most post-style aftermarket radios do fit the cutout just fine. I had mine mounted there originally until a leaky windshield gasket fried it, LOL.

It was still under warranty, so I opened it up on the kitchen table and let it dry out, then brought it back to Tweeter and played dumb that it simply wouldn't turn on, LOL. So they fixed it for free, and i bought a marine stereo waterproof box from Crutchfield and bolted it to the front of my center console and used that from now on. Worked beautiful. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
