Lift Vs. New Oem Springs

I don't do hard core wheeling anymore, mainly snow driver and sand/dunes on the beaches of Cape Cod.....getting me to surf casting.

I am contemplating a BDS 2.5 lift, however, the lift and install is going to run me $900. I am also afraid the the lift will not allow my baby to make it into my garage.

I do need to address the supension though, the springs are shot. Has anyone replaced the springs with the OEM ones that Quadratec offers? Are they any good? Any arc to them, or are they going to be flat like the 26 year old ones on my ride now? They seem to be pretty cheap, I figure new springs, new shackles and nice new bushings would certainly help out.

Thx,

Don't but the OEM springs. They will jar you to death. Buy the replacement springs that Rancho or Superlift make. They may lift you slightly (see the adds) but will ride much better. 4WD Hardware and Quadratec have these along with anyone else selling their products.

What he said.

The Rancho replacements will only lift an inch at most. They ride much better than the OEM springs.

Where can I find these Rancho replacements? I looked on the Rancho website and I didn't see anything about CJ replacement springs....

If you want a nice ride, I'd look into Skyjacker they make, IMO the best riding kits. I'd go w/2.5" and some 32x12.5 Bfg all terrain ko's this would give it a nice look, and wider stance. With the tire width you have a wider footprint on the sand without an aggressive tread.

Im in the same boat. My springs are shot, and so are the bushings. No aftermarket company makes springs with no lift that are better than stock? I really don't want anymore lift, it's high enough already.

Do any of you have a spring shop near by???
Try a full length add-a-leaf. It will give you a added 1" of lift and bring you old spring some new life.
Mined you that any type of add-a-leaf is just a bandaid.
Most 4 wheel drive catalogs sell tons of diffenent type of spring kits for our CJ's
They range in prices from cheap to Super bucks!
I have a 4" Pro Comp now (very stiff). Rancho 3 1/2" in my 1st Jeep (little softer).
If you have a few friends with Jeeps go for a ride and see if you can tell a difference.

I installed the Rancho OEM replacement springs with all new hardware on my CJ5. I talked to others who reported the same conclusions you are reading here. They are a good improvement over the OEM springs. The 1-inch lift is nominal and didn't interfere with anything else involved in my frame-up rebuild.

jdub332003@yahoo.com ....thanks

heck yeah, that was a really dominant defense out there on the field in the second quarter. I hope they can finish up the season on a 7 game winning streak, that would be great!
