Scored a ~40' x 10' x 6' stack of 3" XPS insulation (probably over $5-6k new) for $450 for my outbuilding a few weeks ago.

When restoring my CJ i found a completely sandblasted and painted 79 frame, new high tork motor mounts, new body mounts all around, amc 304 that he couldnt get to run (timing was off runs like a top! no smoke or nothin!) T18 and Dana 20 trans and transfer, 6in lift brake hoses, Amc 20 and dana 30 axles (already had dana 30 and 44 so these are spares) and boxes of spare parts for $300!!! This is what we made!
I love this thread. Great stories. As BESRK said, the thing to do is have cash and be ready to run at a minutes notice. Just last month I bought a $135.66 Home Depot card for $50. I had the guy meet me at Home Depot and we went to customer service to confirm its validity and value. Thats all he was asking. I think he was a crack head who returned something and was only able to get a store credit and preferred to have some cash.
