I just picked up a Warn XD9000i for $400 this morning. Also laid on to pick up 4 H1 Hummer Rims for $100. Last weekend I picked up a GM front D60 for $800.. not a great deal but it had 4.56 gears so I ponied up.

I got the 360/T176 in my CJ in trade for a Premier Power Welder I had laying around..

Bought my current CJ5 for $1500.. solid body, cherry frame and D300. Was able to swap the 151/SR4, D30 and AMC 20 into another CJ5 (a little rust) body/frame and sell that off for $3000.

I think the trick to jumping on good deals is having spare $$$ laying around.

I scored a 1993 SpeedAire 5F563 7.5HP 80 gallon 220v air compressor for $150. Guy wanted $250 I showed up with $150 cash and he took it. It originally cost around $3,000 new.

I picked up a complete 4" Soft Ride lift kit for $75

I picked up a "Family" style YJ roll bar for $100

I picked up two Bestop Low Bucket front seats and a bestop fold and tumble rear seat for $100 and they were brand new.

I could go on an on about the deals I come across on CL.

Bought another set of full doors for 150. Bought a hard top and Fiberglass uppers for 500 for my YJ a few years ago, afterward, i did not like the hard top after all resold teh uppers for 300 and the top for 600 3months later

traded my stock D30/35 from the YJ for a set of built D44's out of a Waggy with 5.13 gears welded in the front and spool in the rear.

got a Best top supertop with full rag doors for 25bucks (some guy found it in his attic had not idea what it was and i was the first person to start asking questions about it to make sure it would work then i drove 2 hours to pick it up)

Bought another hard top from a nieghbor (2 streets over) to help her get it out of her back yard (deadbeat son left it) she insisted that i only do a few thing around the house for it (fixed 2 ceiling fans) then put it on craigslist for 500 sold it for 600 because of an email bidding war and the 2 guys showed up at the same time and the one had more cash than the other.

6 - 35x12.50 r15's 5 Goodyear MTR's 1 BFG MT all 4 w/98% thread and 2 (1 goodyear and 1 BFG) were brand new still had nipples and they came with Discount tire warranty - 200 bucks.

that is all of the best craigslist deals i have been apart of, i have many more decent deals but those are the ones that take the cake.

Another trick for scouring ads is to know what vehicles your desired parts came in and look for someone parting out those types of vehicles. For instance, if I were looking for an NP435 tranny, I'd do a search for it. I'd also look at all the Ford trucks being parted out since there's a good chance one would probably have an NP435 or T18 in it... and it might be cheaper if the seller doesn't know what he/she has. They might just list it as a 4speed...etc. If someone is listing an NP435 as a "NP435", they know something about it.. to include it's value.

Clueless sellers are our friends.

I picked up a sm420 with the d20 behind it with adv. adapters kit and the bell housing all for $300 and a 4 hour drive. Also came with an original flywheel for a 304, clutch, pressure plate, t/o bearing all that stuff.

Lots of good deals, around here it's a matter of who ever jumps on the ad quicker.

traded my old worn out soft top to a guy for his hard top.. took a lot of convincing lol.

was strapped for cash so 2 weeks later traded the hard top for a brand new in the box soft top and they gave me 700 dollars.

all i did was clean up the hard top tint the windows and paint it black ( again)

I got a brand new 20 gallon steel tank and skid for my CJ7 build for 75 bucks, then the guy called me back and gave me a T150, bellhousing, flywheel etc for free because he said I seem "like a real Jeep Guy" and he new I'd put it to use in something.

A set of wide tracks set up for SOA (trussed AMC20 with Warn full floater axles and an ARB airlocker) on 15 inch chrome wheels with street tires for $400. I pulled the near new street tires off and put them on my 99 cherokee and the axles went into my current CJ7 build. I traded with the same guy for a new/uninstalled four inch SUA lift, shackles and polyurethane bushing set for an old 16 inch electric fan I had laying around.

I also got set of (4) 35 inch Big O X/T tires on 15 black steel wheels + 33 inch Thornbirds on white wagon wheels all for $100. I resold the Thornbirds for $200 .

I bought my recent CJ7 build for $700 and sold parts that I'm not going to use on CL for a total of $1500.
