leaf spring up-grade

hi everybody,

i 've just started a new project, and i ve a question about leaf spring,
can i swap thin leaf from a cj6 of 75 by the newer model.
i just had a quick look and i don't see anything too difficult;
Did somebody did it, and will it be better to do it if i will do latter an engine swap to accept the extra weight and torque of the v8 ?
