Leaf Spring Help

I am restoring a 1977 CJ7 Levi edition V8. Stock springs are offered in either 4leaf or 7 leaf. Since it has a V8, should I go with the 7 leaf and will that make it ride a lot rougher?

Thanks for your help!

My 86 is a 6 Cylinder, and it came with the heavy springs. There was literally NO suspension give under normal driving, the sucker would make your spine rattle! I exchaned them for 4 leaf versions and it helped a lot, still plenty stiff though...

You know, it depends on what engine.... If I remember correctly, a 360 or 304 doesn't weigh that much more than a 258.

I think the 258 may weigh in at around 550 lbs, and the v8s are in the neighborhood of 600 lbs.

I'm researching it now, will let you know if I find the results....

LOL!

Okay, I just read your original question (my last reply had no bearing on it).

The 4 leafs will give you a softer ride.. but.. they will also wear out quicker and sag sooner than the 7 leafs. How long depends on amount of use.

So, that probably didn't help you either
