So let me see if I understand this: Any bank says it's worth 14K, but his bank said it's worth $17K, so that means the value has increased by over $3K.

Maybe he could get $3K for it.
I would get my $ out of any bank clueless enough to value that above $700.

"mosure"?

Also, one has to suspect that the "locked" may mean "welded together".

You know, the owner is probably proud that he's got this pieced together Frankenstein CJ, but I wouldn't touch it or pay a dime for it. I suspect that so many corners were cut and it has so many lurking problems that it'd only be a continual waste of time to work on.

I wonder what that orange ratchet strap is holding together?

Also, this is yet another auction where the owner can't take the time to roll the thing out of the garage and wash it before taking a photo. Maybe it's just me, but if you don't have pride enough in your Jeep (or whatever you're selling), to clean it up before thing to sell it, then I don't have much faith it's worth what you're asking for it. [/soapbox]

Here's the pic from the CL ad:
They all spell "axle" wrong. Seems like all of the owners of junk vehicles have a spelling problem.

I read...
It is street legal, just not street safe. It will turn heads, but not for a good reason. And you have to take all the garbage in his garage with you. Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date before you get near this thing.

Serious inquiries only because he's tired of people calling to laugh at him...

I dunno, it looks like he has $2k or so in knobs and switches on the dashboard alone!

And I wish I could make out what that red plastic sign on the dash says...

$5000 for a totaled CJ7 with a crappy Grooms (none of the shops I worked at would touch a Grooms reman engine, they're junk) engine. What a deal! I'm tempted to shoot him an e-mail for how much he wants for those cool slot M/T mags, but that might be why he thinks his junk is worth $5000. Might think the wheels are worth $4500 and the rest of the heap is worth $500 like I do.

Good find! That is truly laughable! I love this line:
"This great vehicle had undergone much performance grade restoration"
Whatever that means. It's wrecked now. Here are the pics from the CL post:

Maybe it's the words "CJ" and "Great investment" so close to each other. I love that he mentions over $25000 has been spent on it over the years, but he's got a BIN price of $14000. I tend to think of investments as gaining value, but I guess not all "great" ones do.
This jumped out at me. He's in a financial bind, and he wants more toys!

Discovered it needed brake work .5 seconds before impact!
And I agree, those wheels are sharp as he!!. But it's a parts jeep now. Straighten the frame, add a 1 pc nose and get it rolling maybe?
TDK frame, sheetetal, labor etc..15k easy for a ...Meh jeep? Not on this planet.

I've also learned that sometimes... when people don't agree with you .... its best to hold them down and kidney punch them till they agree with you

it doesn't look too scruffy and has clearly had a lot of work done to it.

It is the price which is laughable, perhaps he should realise second hand toys are cheap.

It looks quite clean and may have run quite well, apart from the brakes.

A dreamer with a wrecked car, perhaps he sits in it going vroom vroom.

Saw this one on craigslist and it made me think of "TOP GEAR" the british version where the host is driving a car like this and he tips it over on every corner and asks bystanders to tip him back over.

A cheap rip-off of the mighty REX!

Sorry, but as they say, "There can be only one!"
