That's a pretty high number, so you're up there.

Last of a Great Breed Plaque

I lost my plaque years ago, However, I never forgot it. It was above the left side of the vehicle INT. above the speaker. My last Vin# is 8492, if anyone can tell me what production order my jeep is in that would be great.

Thanks,
Andy

The last 6 digits are the sequential production number. So what 2 digits are in front of 8492?

I dunno, there's one posted above with a number of 143650 so I don't think you're too close to the end of production.

Or when you say "not sure what the last one was" do you mean the last digit of your vin? Ie. 24178X

'84 CJ-7: Yota axles (spartan locked front, e-locked rear) 4" BDS, 1" Daystar & 3/8" shackle lifts, 35" X-Terrains on steelies, YJ Tub & family roll bar, heater blower upgrade, 4.2L w/MC2100 & Team Rush, Warn 8274. Rebuilt 4.2/4.0 hybrid, AX15 and twin sticks/clocking ring waiting to go in.

The advertised position for a topless, dirty jeep girl has been filled......by my wife. Thanks to all that applied.

I think only 25000 were made in 1986 but I could be wrong. I have heard of some very high vin numbers but I'm not at all sure how they correlate.

I don't think AMC assigned sequential numbers to cj's......or any model for that manner. If they made a total of 100,000 vehicles in a year there could be a wagoneer with a vin that directly followed a CJ that directly followed a j truck and so on.

There are quite a few CJ registries floating around the web and I haven't seen any of them be able to even specify vin ranges by year let alone specialty production runs.

I did some more research and in 1986 only 25,979 were made. That would mean that after mine rolled off the assembly line some 1801 were made in about 3 weeks. Then it was all over.
Research found here: http://wwiijeepparts.com/Archives/JeepSerialNumber.html

According to the website these are sequential serial numbers.

Again you are assuming they started the 86 production run with serial #000001. Which wasn't the case as shown by the wide range of numbers shown in the posts in this thread.

It appears from the link you posted that during the Willy's era vins were sequential. But nothing on that page points to AMC doing the same.

The 143XXX vin I referred to above shoots that theory down. So unless there is a digit missing from the vin you posted I would say you have a CJ that was closer to the start of the 86 run than the end.

jeepwhore is correct. That was one of the mistakes I was doing. All AMC vehicles, to my knowledge, are included in the VIN #s. If your VIN is 25,000, you were the 25,000 AMC vehicle, not CJ7 built.

No plaque here either. It's pretty much a dealer issue and not a factory issue.
