Laredo Seats

I am in the process of purchasing an '83 CJ-7 Laredo. The vehicle has the tan/brown Laredo factory seats. The two front seats are in pretty bad shape.

Does anyone have any suggestions for replacing the skins or entire seats? I want them to at least have the same factory look. I saw a post mentioning a guy named George on eBay that does good work.

Any help would be appreciated!

I remember seeing some that were that color combination on eBay. But if I remember correctly, they were NOS and about $1000 for the covers.

It was probably me that mentioned George (CJLaredo is his ebay user name). I put the bottom skins on my seats, which is all they needed, and I couldn't be happier. They ran about $500 shipped, and it was totally worth it.

I think he's out of stock for the moment, which means that his wife or mother is in the process of sewing more, so get in the queue before he runs out of material. They are spot on for original.

After I installed the bottom skins, I put a pair of bestop seat covers on them to keep them protected - for that kind of investment, I'd hate to ruin them by poking a hole with a screwdriver (the covers have already saved the seats once!!)

I went to a local upholstery shop to see about getting them recovered. He quoted me $500 per seat and it was vinyl not leather. I think that seems pretty high. They would look like the original seats, but he would replace the carpet on the bottom and back.

Any thoughts?

Put your name in the lineup for George's Laredo skins. Do you need both top and bottom, or just bottoms? Both seats, or just the driver side?

I just needed the driver side bottom skin. Bought the pair on eBay (he may them individually, don't know but it wouldn't hurt to ask), put both bottom skins on, reversed my driver seat with my passenger seat (driver seats are notoriously beaten up, and that way I'd get a little more life out of the seat), and then sold the passenger bottom skin for $100.

Do you have contact info for George? I will need top and bottom for the driver and just the top for the passenger seat. That is a great idea about switching the two front seats to prolong the life...Thanks!
