Knocking after warm up

Hello, My 83 CJ7 has started knocking after it warms up. Did it today for the first time.

Problem: Knocking after 20 miles or so or after warmed up.

Sounds like a rod knock. Not burning oil, I recently did a resoration and had the engine on a stand. Replaced valve seals, rear main seal, valve cover.

NEED YOUR HELP!!! I want to nip this right away.... I do not see any physical signs of trouble from the outside of the engine. Oil pressure seems to be good (I call 47 to 51 good)

Rob

Any suggestions?????????????????

Drain one quart of oil from your engine then replace that quart withh tranny fluid (this will add detergents to your Engine) then run your engine for 30 min or so. If it is a stuck part causing the knock, ie: a lifter, this process will help it become unstuck. This is where i'd start before pulling my engine apart. Good Luck

After you try that if it works change your oil before 200 miles or so. You don't want to go too long with tranny fluid in your engine.

If it is a rod knock you might want to try Lucas oil Stabilizer to help quiet the sound. If this works, it will only be a matter of time before you need to replace rod bearings though. If you keep using Lucas it might be a long time before you need to rebuild.

What is the pressure while hot & knocking ?? Did you mess with the lower end at all while you had it on a stand. The DSPO of mine for some reason decided to swap out the rod bearings on a reground crank with standard size instead of undersize bearings... started knocking once warm.
