Kill switch
any one have any ideas of where to place a kill switch. I have a 79 CJ-5 with no title steering. Thanks for your help in advance.

Is this kill switch going to be used as an anti-theft device or just to turn the Jeep off? If used for anti-theft I'd prolly hide one up under the dash. As for just something to kill the engine just put it within reach on the dash.

I also have a kill switch. Mine is on the dash and of course not labeled as such. It is just one of many switches I have there. I think most people would not think about flipping a switch before starting so I think it would be safe there on the dash.

go to your local boat or small watercraft supplier to pick up a real "kill switch". 4wdhardware and all the other jeep after-market stores sell anti-theft battery cut-out switches.

I have 2 as my ignition sw can be turned w/out a key. 1 under dash for fuel pump, and 1 inside my tuffy box for ignition. It can still be towed but short of that I think it will be outside in the morning.

My friend has one on his 73 CJ5 and its just to the left of the glove box, but I think its an anit-theft device, it has to be turned on before the jeep can be turned on.

Anti-theft...what a good idea! I have one on my CJ-5 but I call it the "won't drain my battery" switch. I am still sorting through the electrical mess that has accumulated over the years.
Under the dash is good for anti-theft unless you have too much lift. I can see mine from half mile away since it is at eye level! |
