Just bought 76 CJ5 and very excited about possiblities!

I bought this 76 CJ5 and I have always wanted one, now I have the chance to put my vision to the test.
The frame has been redone, body redone, new paint job. Lacking mirrors, windshield, and need of new tires. Rim size are 15's. Has a 3 inch lift. So my thoughts are where should I start? Here is what I will be doing w/ it, summer driver and a minor off-roading for it- Any thoughts for tires, engine tuneups, want to dabble with the exhaust. Has headers and I would like for it to grumble deeper. I would appreciate any thoughts or info. Thanks guys, Nutz

Congrats on the purchase, I purchased the same year and model about 3 weeks ago.

Unfortunately, yours is in much better shape then mine, I am in the process of the tear down to redo the frame, body, and engine. Mine has a 4 inch lift on it now and it came with 33" 12.5 15 tires. They look pretty good in there and there is no rubbing from the little I drove it before the tear down.

As for tires themselves, if you are not going to do a lot of mudding and off roading, then I suppose you don't need as aggressive tires, that is kind of subjective.

As for exhaust, that is up to you. if you want throaty, go for no exhaust, mine has none right now and it is one loud SOB. Kidding, you could look at some dynomax exhaust or gibson. As for what you have to put in the exhaust, cat converter, etc. check out your states requirements at the DMV.

Good luck with the new baby.
