juckyard alternator

Im looking to upgrade my alternator. I have stock one in now (63 amp).What type of vehicle can i pull a good one from. I have a u pull it junkyard by me.
I have 79 cj7 with a 304 with a th400 and can i tell if the alternator is good before i pull or can test it somehow THANKS

My junkyard gives a 30 day return policy. They say take it to autozone and have them test it and bring it back if it doesn't work. Not sure if your Junkyard works l ike that though
