Jim,

I have to ask, do you have a Factory Service Manual?

If not, you really should have one. Many of the questions you ask here are answered in great detail in the FSM.

Matt

After further review the '74 doesn't have a fuse block so I guess I need to run the read wire to the ignition switches Yellow wire and connect the blue on there as well ??

Ok I took the dash off to look at this 1974 wiring and how it is hooked up w/out a fuse block.

The Red and Blue wire come from the switch itself.

I'm going to splice in the Red wire w/white tracer from the module into the Red wire on the harness which leads to the Alt etc.

Then I am going to splice in the Blue wire to the Blue wire in the harness which leads to the starting solenoid.

This should make it run w/the 1985's electronic ignition.

Green wire to - side of cool and Brown wire to the Alt small brown wire.

Should work.

Here is what we have and after we tried everything, we tried it w/out the module tied in to turn over and now it won't turn over. The fuse is good on the ignition switch.

I hooked this up the way it was in the Waggy. In thinking since the brown wire is connected to the + side if the coil and that is tied to the battery side if the solenoid etc. that is why the brown wire is getting hot.

Maybe disco that from the + side of the solenoid and let it run off the module when it is on/hot.

Only thing I can think of.

Ok wiring done (need to dress it up in the engine bay), B&M shifter installed.

Need to install the shifter cable, drive shaft (temp-he is getting one made), Trans fluid and glass packs.

That's all we can think about for now and she should be on the road.

Morning Jim. I'm looking at JR's. shifter location. Here's where I put mine, for 2 reasons. It was the right length for my arm (I'm only 5'9" so there not really long) , and the consul. It seemed uncomfortable further back.

to all this morning.

He has a CJ5 and we tried it forward close to the dash-to far as his seats are up higher on a pedestal type mount on top of the gas tank.

He wanted it there/easy to reach and becomes an arm rest

Out of all the places it fit him the best.

Thanks for sharing-we were going back and fourth on it and .....

In the front of his box he made a piece to go up to the dash to hold his stereo / CB. We mounted his mechanical oil/temp last night and he was getting 60 psi cold on the oil gauge.

Not sure if I took pics but this engine was very clean when we removed the valve covers/intake.

No knocks etc when we started it.

Hopefully we will have her on the road tonight or tomorrow.

OK Jr's Engine swap from a AMC 304 manual transmission/D20 transfer case to AMC 360 v8 automatic transmission/D-300 transfer case is complete except for some tweaking of the carb and what he need to wrap up in side/paint etc. One down, two to go before winter hits us.

Thank you, than you, thank you all for the help on this one

Jim
